Jacob Ventura, the best choice for Massachusetts State Senator in 2018

Jacob is running for Senator to ensure that all of the constituents in the Bristol and Norfolk district have an advocate in the Senate that will represent their values. He will help build stronger communities by supporting our local schools, strengthening public safety, and advocating for good governance.

Jacob will represent Democrats, Republicans, and Independents and believes in respectful public discourse. He will bring a problem-solving approach to Beacon Hill and work in a bipartisan manner to make state government work better for all people.

As the next senator for the region, Jacob’s office door will always be open. With his background and commitment to constituent services, the people of the Bristol and Norfolk district will always have a resource that will help them cut through ‘red tape’ while dealing with state agencies. Jacob’s senate staff will be available throughout the district and at the State House in Boston.

"Jacob will partner with our Administration to keep our communities safe, build stronger schools, and control state spending. He will be effective on day one."

Issues

Jacob will work to ensure that our local and state law enforcement have the tools they need to keep our communities safe. Jacob believes that legal immigration has strengthened our country but believes that we must also enforce our current immigration laws while treating all people with dignity and respect. Combating gang-related violence, drug trafficking, and violent crimes in Massachusetts is essential in ensuring that our communities remain safe.

Jacob supports growing our state and local economies by ensuring that entrepreneurs can start a business and small business owners can earn a living. This means competitive tax rates and smart regulation that don’t stifle economic growth. Tackling the costs of rising health care and energy are also essential in improving our business climate in the Bay State. Jacob believes that state government should balance its annual budget just like every business and household does.

Jacob supports the Governor’s efforts in investing in public school districts through increased local aid as well as grants for applied learning in the vocational, agricultural, and technical fields. Jacob has worked with some of the region’s superintendents, school committees, and teachers and will continue to seek increased local aid through Ch. 70. Additionally, we must finally address the school funding formula and seek innovative solutions to the rising costs of special education and health care.

Jacob has a strong record assisting seniors and veterans in the region, from home heating assistance, subsidized health care and housing, and regional transportation. Jacob is also committed to giving our region’s seniors, many of whom are on fixed incomes, the tax relief they need. Additionally, Jacob will continue to work with the regions Veteran Service Officers to ensure Massachusetts remains a leader in care for our veterans at the local level.

Jacob understands that our transportation system is one of the most critical components to ensuring that our state thrives in the 21st century. The movement of people, goods and services via roads, highways, trains, waterways, and air will remain a priority for Jacob in the Senate. He has worked with local legislators in the region to increase state funding for local transportation projects that include resurfacing of local roads, emergency light installations, and other MassDOT construction priorities such as bridges and state roads.

Jacob supports on-going efforts to protect our environment by increasing the renewable energy portfolio standard that requires the state’s energy to come from renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydro-power sources. He is also opposed to the construction of a compressor station in the region. Jacob will continue to work to bring alternative energy industry leaders to the commonwealth so we can protect our environment, secure our energy future, and keep energy rates affordable for consumers. Finally, Jacob will continue to be an advocate for local farmers and the many agricultural industries across Massachusetts.
